I wouldn't normally want to list what equipment I take but recently my load has consisted of the same items where by I may even fall into the category of 'going light' but this time I had one new item with me and that was my new Furtech Claw jacket.
Rucksack - Golite jam (older model)
Sleeping mat - Thermarest (original full length)
Sleeping bag - Alpkit pipedream 400 (ooh toasty)
Tent - Coleman ridgel x2 (lightweight single skin)
Cooker and pan set comprising of meths coke stove and titanium Vargo mug and light my fire spoon.
Spare clothes only consisted of belay jacket - Keela (not needed), spare icebreaker long sleeve top and bottom, socks, hats and gloves.
For walking in I wore Montane terra stretch trousers, new icebreaker beast t-shirt, TNF terranius shoes and my new jacket.
Other bits and bobs consisted of first aid kit, petzl e-lite and food from the lovely company 'look what we found'
I'm not into weighing everything but it fitted easily into the Jam rucksack.
Now to rant on about a brilliant product, the new jacket. Having been the owner of various jackets over the years consisted of own laminated jackets to gore-tex to event recently. I decided that it was high time that I gave the likes of an analogy jacket a go ready for winter and also to save weight as it would serve two purposes in one. However having tried on Paramo I found the Large to short in the body and arms and the X-large brilliant in these areas but with a few poles and pegs I could pitch it. After a bit of research I found a review by Graham Thompson that stated that the fit of Furtech was slimmer and after meeting with Andy Davison who runs Furtech I purchased the Claw 1. Now this weekend served as a good test throwing fine rain being driven by wind horizontally to me, rain coming straight down from above and extremely strong wind and throughout all this time I remained dry, warm and comfortable and even when working hard I was not dripping in sweat.
Apart from this my colleague Chris had also purchased himself a Paramo Smock and it was nice to see the comparison between the two and like myself he found the jacket performed admirably.
Just to show how well it fitted here's a little piccie.
